Glass & Shadows | The Light Room | Editorial Styled Shoot

As creatives in the wedding industry, we sometimes put aside our own wishes for an outcome to match the desires that our clients are dreaming of. As a wedding planner & designer, it is not appropriate to put my personal preferences above my clients'. For wedding photographers & videographers, it is not in the clients’ best interest to create faux moments that prevent the authenticity of the wedding day to play out organically. For makeup artists, brides often have a different look in mind than they prefer. For this creative collaboration - we focused on exercising those creative muscles that make us better at our jobs.

MacCoy & I had been really obsessing over shadows & glass, hence, the revolving theme around the entire project. We wanted to incorporate shadow & glass effects in as many ways as we could imagine. This led to me purchasing textures plastic panels & shower doors - crazy, huh?? - but they did the trick! Throw in some mirrors, and other glass accessories, and voila - magic!

Having Aly & Krishna of Glitch Films on board for this project was a true “cherry on top”. There’s something about having it captured on video to promote the full effect of what we were aiming for. I also love that they chose to put together a quick video of the behind-the-scenes so you can see the full extent of what goes on in order to achieve a vision.

We hope you find the same pleasure in viewing our passion project as we did putting it together! It was so important for us to challenge ourselves in this as to not grow stale in our approach with our clients. Exercising these “muscles” is just as important as the literal ones.
