Rainy Oregon Coast Forest Wedding at Short Sand Beach

Most people aim to plan their wedding in the sunniest season possible – not Rhiannon & Erik! These two wanted specifically to get married on a dreary, drizzly day in the PNW for the ultimate moody, foresty, beachy vibe. Knowing this about them, we expertly planned their tiny intimate wedding at Short Sand Beach, between Manzanita and Cannon Beach on a day in the middle of October. While we discussed being unable to guarantee rain, we knew it was our best bet to have this kind of setting on the Oregon coast on a fall day.

For their ceremony, we convened at the trailhead for Short Sand Beach, and the whole group walked in ahead of Rhiannon and her parents. The path was about a half mile jaunt. We positioned their ceremony installation so that the background would be of the coastline. Live musicians played while guests waited for the bride and her parents to join them so that the ceremony could begin.

It was an intimate, emotional, and special ceremony, filled with laughter and tears. After they said “I Do”, family photos took place. The guests then walked back to their cars while Rhiannon and Erik took more photos separately. We departed towards the Winery at Manzanita for a light dinner, drinks, and overall merriment.

Erik and Rhiannon’s choice to keep their guest list small and exclusive allowed them to indulge in beautiful details - such as the florals and decor. They were able to afford their dream photographer, and added a videographer to capture the event so that they could share it with a broader audience back home.

We love every opportunity to design and plan intimate weddings (or, microweddings) where every person and detail is intentionally and thoughtfully chosen to have the utmost meaning for the couple getting married.
